This course allows the Power Engineering student to develop practical skills required in day to day aspects of their occupation at the 4th class level. The aspects include basic training in the safe use of hand tools, power tools, equipment, and maintenance of building systems. The use of ladders, rigging practices, methods of hoisting and proper knot tying is practiced in the laboratory setting. The student is introduced to power piping principles including cutting, threading, and proper identification of fittings and valves. Steam traps, plumbing fixtures and plumbing practices are demonstrated. Commercial building systems including lighting, lamps, and lighting systems are demonstrated as well as cold and hot water distribution and sanitary and waste water piping to sewage systems is covered with practical projects in the lab.
