The student will become familiar with at least one pharmacy computer system. Data entry and generation of appropriate forms will be stressed. The function and uses of computers in hospital pharmacy will be discussed. The integration of clinical and distribution functions will be explained. Practical aspects will include the creation of a database of a fictional hospital with emphasis on order entry, wardstock and maintenance of patient profiles. In class computer assignments will be given to assess the students level of accuracy and understanding of the hospital system.
