The student will identify ineffective behaviours in all four modes associated with complex illnesses and increased risk, experienced in elderly. The student will examine adaptation of clients with complex mental health problems of an acute nature and quality of life issues across the lifespan. The stimuli that contribute to the development of these conditions will be explored. Students will focus on the nurse's role in prevention of these illnesses by reducing risk factors and in restoration of health by supporting the client's adaptation in the diagnostic and treatment phases of illness. The student will learn concepts associated with palliative care of clients across the lifespan with lifestyle altering and life threatening illnesses. The student will learn to collaborate with the client and their family in developing a plan of care.
