The student will learn to apply the nursing process in the care of acutely ill adult clients with predictable outcomes in a hospital environment. The student will examine adaptation of clients with complex medical-surgical problems. Students will focus on the nurse's role in prevention of these illnesses by reducing risk factors and in restoration of health by supporting the client's adaptation in the diagnostic and treatment phases of illness. The student will learn when to consult with other nurses, physicians and other team members, as the client's condition warrants. The student will learn to collaborate with the client and their family in developing a plan of care.
