The student will learn to apply the nursing process in the care of families experiencing common health alterations. The student will identify ineffective behaviours associated with common illnesses and increased risk, experienced in each developmental stage. The factors that contribute to the development of these conditions will be explored. Students will focus on the nurse's role in prevention of these illnesses by reducing risk factors and in restoration of health by supporting the client's adaptation in the diagnostic and treatment phases of illness.
