This course introduces the student to problem solving, critical thinking and the nursing process. Using the nursing process, the student gains a foundation for nursing that includes health, environment, growth and development and communication. The focus is on nursing as a profession, including the role of the nurse as a member of the health team. The student will demonstrate knowledge of professional behaviour of the Registered Practical Nurse and other health team members in the Canadian health care setting. The student will be introduced to ethical-legal guidelines in nursing as outlined by the College Of Nurses of Ontario.
