This advanced course is designed to enable Paralegal Program students to apply certain knowledge and skills learned and put theory into practice. Students participate in a virtual legal setting to assist hypothetical clients based on real-life legal problems to practice skills such as interviewing, time-management, file-management, interpersonal communication and problem solving from the client intake process and up to including trial. In addition to the experiential learning, the students will have the opportunity a develop a greater understanding and sensitivity of the need for access to justice and professional responsibility through viewing and analysis of court and tribunal proceedings and the completion of a community targeted project specific to the rights, needs and responsibilities relating to Indigenous and other marginalized client groups. This course provides opportunity to, identify real ethical issues and apply the Code of Conduct.
