This course is a detailed study of common pipe and fittings used for plumbing installations. Terminology of design, manufacture and sizing as well as approved uses of different materials will be taught. Steel, cast iron, various plastics, copper and glass approved materials which are used for drainage waste and vent systems. Joining various dissimilar materials is introduced. Correct supports and hanger's specific for different materials and positions will be taught. Requirements for cleanouts regarding, size, distance and types are identified. Prohibited fittings and connections according to the Plumbing Code will be specified. Storm and sanitary system design will be explained including appropriate termination and minimum sizes which will be stressed according to the Plumbing Code. Plumbing trade terminology which is used for different drainage systems will also be explained.
