This advanced course will allow the learner an opportunity to view the new partnerships between Public Services and the communities they serve. After a brief overview historically of various policing models, the learner will be asked to examine and apply crime prevention and problem oriented policing strategies currently being used in the Canadian Policing. By using information such as demographics, geography and crime statistics the learner will process the information to understand problem oriented policing and then examine various models and strategies such as SARA, PARE, and CPTED to develop, implement and evaluate solutions to problems thus gaining a larger understanding of the role that the community plays in today's policing environment.
