This course presents an introduction which focuses on the evolution of the Canadian Health Care System, from the Federal and Provincial divisions of powers and responsibilities under the British North American Act of 1867 (now the Constitution Act of 1982) to the development of the current day publicly funded system. This course will review the determinants of health status, special interest groups and comparison of the Canadian system to various other models. This course will familiarize students with the organizational structure as well as the inter-professional working relationships of health professionals within the Canadian Health Care System.
