This course is designed to introduce the student to the fundamentals of Engineering Economics. Focus will be on economic analysis with particular emphasis on the manufacturing environment. Financial analysis will be applied to projects, investments, and capital improvements in the context of global competition. Time value of money, project screening and a variety of discounting analysis techniques will be learned. Topics to be covered include financial statements, cost estimation, cost accounting, cost control, annual cost, present worth, various return methods, depreciation and taxes, equipment replacement and break-even analysis.
