This course is designed to introduce the student to safety principles and components in an industrial environment. The student will be introduced to the applicable standards and regulations governing the application and installation of safety devices. The selection and application of components will be examined on a theoretical and applied level. Protective measures, risk assessment and risk reduction strategies will be evaluated. Safety related control components, control systems, and redundancy of designs will be discussed.
