The prime focus of this course is to use simulation software to perform mould fill and cooling; and to make adjustments to the mould prior to the release of data for tool build. These processes greatly improve the performance of processing and reduce expensive post tool adjustment. Previously acquired knowledge from plastics processing will help the student understand the parameters of simulation software. Given a variety of models, students will simulate fill and cool analysis while being cognisant of cycle time, plastic material specs, part geometry requirements, molecular orientation, injection press capacities and plant chilling capacity. Student groups will partake in a major project analysis and will submit data and reports identifying optimum processing.
