Technical Project & Report

This course is intended to provide the senior Mechatronics student the opportunity to undertake, as a member of a small group, a major project in an industrial, commercial or institutional setting. The project will inherently require, in whole or in part, the use of skills developed during the Mechatronics program and may require further study and research in electronics, mechanics, sensors, controls, robotics and other automation systems. The student and the group will be presented with a technological problem by a participating firm or institution. The student and the group will attempt to formulate a solution or solutions to the problem posed and present all findings, conclusions and recommendations in a full and formal written report. Attention to detail, completeness, economic viability, efficiency and Mechatronics principles shall be demonstrated throughout the work. A summary of the completed report shall be shared with project providers, Mechatronics faculty and peers through an oral presentation.
