Facilities Planning

This course will introduce senior students to the factors involved in planning facilities for part production and assembly. Topics include:, line balancing techniques, production flow analysis, in-process storage methods (JIT and Kanban), material handling methods, and plant service requirements. Break-even analysis and methods of selling the design to management will also be suited. This course may involve field trips to local industry.
