This course introduces the student to the field of material handling from a practical point of view. An exposure of the main types of equipment and storage facilities starting with hand carts to automatic guided vehicles and from pallet storage racks to automatic storage / retrieval systems, help the student gain practical knowledge of handling equipment. The course may include time for field trips to local industry as well as video presentations. The material is structured to relate closely with the Facilities Planning course.
