This course is designed to introduce the mechanical engineering technology student to the basic principles and applications of fluid power. Included are the basic laws of operation and control of fluid power circuits, the function and application of hydraulic and pneumatic components and the design of fluid power circuits for the transmission of power in automated systems. The application of formulae to calculate power, force, speed and efficiency of components and systems will be discussed, thus a working knowledge of algebra is required to understand theoretical materials presented.
