Students will examine the concepts of change in the workplace. Historical aspects of the Canadian Health Care System and recent changes to the system will be explored. The significance of these changes to the citizens of Canada and Ontario, and to the roles of workers in the field will be considered. Areas to be addressed include: management and employee decision making, integration of roles, motivation and job satisfaction, accepting and coping with change, introduction to stress and becoming employed. Application of these concepts to related work settings provide an employee's perspective to working in a rapidly changing field. Students will be required to write a research paper based upon a list of provided topics. This course, offered by distance education, is designed to fulfill the general education requirement for students completing an off-site clinical training semester.
