This course explores the code of ethics of the CSMLS and CMLTO regarding the self-regulated profession of Medical Laboratory Technology in Ontario. The components of the code will be examined and students will learn how the code is enforced and the impact of the code to society. The course will enhance the student's understanding of the CMLTO Professional Portfolio in maintaining excellence in the profession by promoting ongoing self-reflection and development. The course will discuss the role of the CSMLS with regards to certification and eventual licensing by the CMLTO. Students will be introduced to laboratory licensing by Ontario Laboratory Accreditation and to external quality assurance processes.
