An introduction to the study of pathogenic fungi, including common fungal opportunists, superficial and dermatophytic fungi, yeast, and organisms causing subcutaneous/systemic mycoses. The second portion of this course presents an introduction to the study of pathogenic parasites. This study will include nematoda, cestoda, digenea, and protozoa. Various diagnostic procedures performed in a clinical laboratory to recover and identify both fungi and parasites will be practiced.
