Orientation And Med Lab Skills

This course provides an orientation to the role and responsibilities of the Medical Laboratory Technicians in the health care field. Students will define the term professional and examine the desired characteristics of a health care worker. Ethics and liabilities of this career will be explored. Students will be introduced to accepted safety procedures for handling specimens, reagents, and equipment (includes WHMIS training). The laboratory sessions will introduce students to selected manual skills that are an integral part of medical technology.
