Students will examine criminal law theory and procedure together with immigration law. There will be a focus on legislation including the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms, Criminal Code of Canada, Youth Criminal Justice Act, and Immigration and Refugee Protection Act. Students will explore all components of criminal matters including bringing an accused before the court, bail, preliminary hearings, trials, defences, and sentencing. Students will participate in class discussions to analyze course material and enhance their learning environment.
