This course provides an opportunity for the adult learner to develop a basic understanding of the hardware components of a personal computer, the basic features of the Windows Operating System, the basic features of word processing software and an introduction to the information superhighway called the Internet. This course is meant to empower adults, who have not yet taken advantage of the world of computers, through progressive, easy to follow assignments and lectures. Most assignments incorporate pre-existing documents, on which to apply the formatting features being studied, so as to minimize to influence of poor keyboarding skills. The course assignments support many of the literacy learning outcomes as well.
