This course will lead students on a broad exploration of language. Throughout the course, students will draw on their own experiences to analyze linguistic elements such as semantics, grammar, pragmatics, morphology, phonology, and the lexicon. We will also discuss aspects of language acquisition for first and second languages, including signed languages. Students will also explore the power of language and media in shaping our understanding of the world around us.
