This course provides the students of journalism with a fundamental understanding of Canada's legal system and their place in it as professionals. This course introduces issues involving the ownership, organization and operation of mass media in Canada. Also, it displays current problems of ethical practice for journalists. Students need this course in order to understand libel and slander laws that can arise in all of their other journalism courses. This course will allow them to avoid such mistakes.
