This course presents two main subject areas that will help to prepare Office Administration Medical students for situations they may encounter in their work environment. The first 16 hours of the course gives students the opportunity to learn basic First Aid skills for life threatening conditions including the use of an AED. Upon successful completion of this part of the course, a First Aid, CPR and AED Certification card will be awarded., In the second part of the course, students will gain an understanding of WHMIS in the workplace. This comprehensive program engages participants in a discussion about WHMIS - the system designed to help workers understand and exercise their legal right to know about hazardous materials in the workplace. Students will also be introduced to the specific characteristics of biological hazards and the circumstances where worker exposure can occur.
