This course is designed to review management and leadership theories and apply them to nursing practice. Advanced communication strategies related to management, leadership, staff development, decision making, and conflict are also discussed. An overview of the concepts of professional practice, as it affects quality improvement in the workplace is examined. The research process and the selecting, critiquing and applying research to nursing practice is studied and applied to provide "best practice" nursing care. Working with professional & labour organizations is also reviewed. The content of this course will assist the nurse to adapt to the workplace as a novice professional with many complex and competing roles.
