This course will provide the student with an increased understanding of the holistic health history and increased competence in performing a physical examination. The techniques of interviewing, inspection, palpation, percussion, auscultation and use various assessment tools will be implemented to increase proficiency in performing systematic health assessments of individuals across the life span. The focus will be on normal variations encountered in clinical practice. Case studies, peer assessment and simulated experiences are utilized to further develop critical thinking skills in relation to health assessment, health promotion and risk prevention.
