Students are introduced to the principles, professional standards, and scope of practice required for success in the fitness industry. The following topics are covered: professionalism, workplace ethics, and time management, building network contacts, professional development and legal issues. Field placement provides the opportunity for learners to observe and experience firsthand the operations and activities of Fitness Leadership. It is primarily an opportunity for students to assist in Fitness and Health Promotion learning opportunities to practice and develop their skills through supervised experiences such as teaching group exercise classes, fitness testing, coaching individuals one on one to meet their fitness and healthy lifestyle goals, and planning and promoting programs.
