This course deals with energy management in process, manufacturing, commercial and institutional facilities. Sustainability of energy management in an organization is an important mandate. To accomplish this, understanding of the energy management process including the type and cost of energy utilized is essential. Strategies of effective operation, preventative maintenance and energy reducing initiatives of the following systems: building envelope, hot water/steam systems, refrigeration, air handling, mechanical, electrical and automation systems will also be studied. As part of the course, the student will be required to apply energy management initiatives on a project facility for successful completion.
