This course investigates Direct Digital Control (DDC) systems in energy usage optimization and building control. Though most systems are highly proprietary, the approach will emphasize common elements of input/output processing for a wide variety of sensors and actuators, point control, data logging and trending, alarm processing and load shedding. The programmability and flexibility of the systems will be explored. Auxiliary applications to DDC such as SCADA will also be studied.
