This course introduces the student to programmable controllers. These devices, used for automation of electromechanical systems across multiple industries are constantly evolving. The student will be exposed to input and output systems and various types of input and output devices, both digital and analog. Program instructions including timing, counting, sequencing, and logical operations that are used to control the outputs of the system in response to inputs will be examined utilizing various hardware-supported languages. Hands-on laboratory exercises will allow the student to demonstrate programming and troubleshooting skills.
