This course is designed to introduce the students to safety principles and components in different industrial environments as well as industrial robotic technologies. The student will be introduced to the applicable standards and regulations governing the application and installation of safety devices. The selection and application of components will be examined on a theoretical and applied level. Protective measures, risk assessment and risk reduction strategies will be evaluated. The students will be introduced to basic machining theory and operation of conventional machines such as mills, drill presses, tapping and lathes. The students will also be introduced to industrial robotic applications and manufacturing concepts as well as career paths in robotics and automation.
