This is an introductory electrical/electronic lecture/laboratory-based course. Topics include DC voltage, current, resistance, energy, work, power, magnetism, capacitance, inductance, reactance, impedance, Ohms Law, AC waveforms and associated parameters. The student learns to implement laboratory equipment such as multimeters, power supplies, function generators, oscilloscopes. The student will also identify, select and apply passive components for DC and AC circuits in order to fulfil functional specifications. Practical application of the above devices in industrial automation and control will be stressed in the lectures and laboratory experiments.
