This course is an introduction to the live Entertainment Technology industry, including; working methods, processes, equipment and facilities for theatre, opera, dance, concert productions, museums, theme parks, themed retail, cruise ships and corporate special events. The course will be delivered in a 2 hour and 3 hour session per week with one session devoted to understanding current events and job opportunities in the industry while the other will focus on rigging for the entertainment industry. For the rigging portion, students will begin with the mathematics required to figure out proper loading of flown elements and then be introduced to theatre and arena rigging techniques. Students will also be required various types of live events in the community outside of class hours and write critical papers on what they have seen.
