This course introduces the student to telecommunication systems that utilize a data network. Students will be introduced to basic data network concepts such as the TCP/IP, Ethernet, and Wireless transmission standards. Students will build simple LAN topologies by applying basic principles of cabling; performing basic configurations of network devices, including routers and implementing IP addressing schemes. The student will test and troubleshoot network cabling such as: twisted-pair and coaxial cabling. Student will learn about network security risk and potential breach prevention methods.
