The student will learn aspects of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and be able to identify the legislative requirements relating to their workplace, including Personal Protection Equipment on construction sites and those related to electrical hazards. Students will be introduced to WHMIS requirements and the importance of Material Safety Data Sheets., Students will be informed of safety requirements that are embedded in College Policy (Lockout/Tag-Out), Electrical Codes, local by-laws, other legislation and the requirement working under the supervision of a journeyperson while employed as an apprentice.
