This course covers single and polyphase power networks, power measurements, power factor, and power factor correction. Also included are magnetic circuit principles, ac and dc excitation of magnetic circuits and principles of electromagnetic energy transfer and conversion. Transformer operation, testing, voltage regulation and efficiency are covered. Considerable emphasis is placed on dc and ac rotating machine construction and operating characteristics in the areas of torque, emf, and control applications. Lab projects and exercises support the material covered in the lecture portion of the course.
