This course is an introduction to basic programming techniques used in Programmable Logic Controllers. Students will use graphics animation software to simulate industrial processes and afterwards use their knowledge and skills to work on an Industrial Automation System. Emphasis will be placed on students performing programming tasks associated with industrial automation as well as becoming familiar with various methods of PLC communication. Various addressing techniques PLC languages and programming instructions, such as timers, counters, data aquisition and bit manipulation instructions will be studied. Program examples and lab exercises will be used to enhance the learning process.
