This course examines the most prevalent exceptionalities including developmental disability, speech/ language impairments, learning disability, mild intellectual disability and autism. Each disability is considered with respect to etiology, prevalence, identification and developmental consequences. Case studies and profiles of individual students form the basis for examining guidelines for specific intervention strategies. The role of the Educational Assistant within the school based team and in the, community will be explored.
