This course expands on the investment concepts introduced in Investment Principles I. Emphasis is placed on the "fundamental" approach of analyzing securities which includes analysis of the market industries and individual companies. Technical analysis another well-known approach to stock selection is also explored. Students are exposed to some of the theoretical aspects of capital markets and modern portfolio selection. The course contains self-directed study analysis and project work. The course includes one hour of computer lab per week giving students an opportunity to access a number of Internet sites to research investment alternatives including stocks bonds mutual funds and money market securities Students will compete in the Canadian University Investment challenge a real-time portfolio simulation program designed to help students master online investing.This course expands on the investment concepts introduced in Investment Principles I.
