This course examines the pathophysiology of pain and anxiety as experienced by clients receiving dental care. Pharmacological agents commonly employed in the management of pain and anxiety will be discussed. Specifically the pharmacology of local anesthetics and vasoconstrictors, their adverse effects and potential drug interactions will be examined. The course will also discuss anti-anxiety and analgesics commonly employed in dentistry.
