This course will familiarize the student with the prevention of oral disease. Emphasis is placed on plaque, oral disease control methods, devices, and programs, as well as components of preventive dentistry. Students will develop instructional materials to use in the dental hygiene clinic. A case-based approach is introduced to develop skills in making decisions as a primary dental preventive professional.
