Students develop and promote the use of mental arithmetic, problem solving, and reasoning skills. This course is a consolidation of the principles and techniques of mathematics required for the carpentry trade. This course will develop the students understanding of trade calculations and the ability to apply them to carpentry related problems. Different types of measurement - direct or computed - are taken as it relates to linear, square, volume, and weight. Combined operations applied to the building construction are undertaken with accuracy as its main goal. Students read and interpret architectural drawings, applying these skills through the use of software, to understand house plans that meet specifications.
