The course of study includes history of skin care, the fundamentals and importance of understanding bacteriology, sterilization and disinfection methods and how they pertain to the Esthetic Industry and their safe use. Chief components of this course include the study of the skins physiology, histology, structures and the various types. The health, enemies and aging factors of the skin, working with physicians and various cosmetic procedures will be discussed. Professionalism and first aid as it relates to the salon or spa business will also be discussed. Practical components will include: Performing facial cleansing services; preparing the treatment area; conducting consultations; analyzing the skin utilizing magnifying lamps; properly cleansing and exfoliating the skin and choosing the correct products. The importance of proper client consultations and client records are stressed. Students will model professional behavior, good communications skills, incorporate client education and demonstrate proper hygiene.
