In repsonse to changes at work, people may be called upon to serve as a supervisor or team leader. This general education course provides the student with an overview of the purpose and responsibilities of a supervisor in today's work environment. The supervisor is in a unique position between senior management/owners of an organization and its employees. From this position they must execute the business objectives of their superiors, by planning and organizing the use of their resources as well as hire, lead, motivate, control, evaluate performance and provide feedback, training and support to subordinates. At the end of the day, the supervisor is accountable for all these things. This course provides a foundation for the student to develop from a competent employee to an effective future supervisor. Even if a supervisory position is not aspired to, students will learn how and why organizations must be planned, organized, staffed, led and controlled so they may become better employees and team leaders.
