This applied course is designed to assist students to develop and strengthen academic skills coordinated as follows:, Matematics, Basic arithmetical operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division of whole numbers, fractions and decimals) will be reviewed to support introduction of concepts of ratio and proportion, percents and measurement (linear, area, volume). Mathematical theory will be developed only in so far as it supports the practicalities of the trades. English, Basic English skills will be reviewed and developed in a practical sense:, - to support the matematics and essential employability skills portions of the program, - to prepare student to be successful in meeting apprenticeship academic requirements, - to prepare students to communicate effectively in the workplace
