Practices and Policies of Crime Prevention will introduce students to several types of crime prevention approaches, including, developmental, situational and community crime prevention and their associated goals. Specific topics within these approaches will include the physical environment and crime, neighbourhood crime prevention, community policing and the role of mass and social media in shaping perceptions of safety. Successful and unsuccessful crime prevention programs and policies will also be identified and examined.
