This course is a study & application of simple arithmetic operations with whole numbers, fractions & decimals with practical geometric applications encountered in the Transportation Technology field. Students shall be required to solve practical problems using basic algebraic, geometric & trigonometric knowledge. The student will be able to show calculations & their applications to actual working models of components &/or systems used in the Transportation Industry including but not limited to medium duty vehicles up to Class 8 trucks. These applications shall be everyday occurrences of motor vehicles designed operation experienced by either the vehicle's driver or the technician inspecting & making repairs to the vehicle. Precision measuring devices will be heavily stressed. Study and application of working procedures common in a Truck/Bus repair facility is discussed. This shall include vehicle VIN recognition, repair manual use to enhance the student's ability to perform at industry standards in a repair facility. Repair shop operation, customer relations and business procedures, work order procedures & repair estimating shall also be covered. All shop operations will be related to Motor vehicle Repair Act 1990 and the "Vehicle Lien and Storage Act".
