This course is a study of the basic electrical principles and systems used on medium and heavy duty transportation vehicles. Problem solving strategies involving electrical forces will be stressed as simple, series, parallel, series-parallel and parallel series circuits are commonplace in everyday applications of on/off road vehicles. Use of diagnostic electrical test equipment is a major component of this course. An in-depth study of batteries, including new technology, magnetism and the applications to vehicles used in the transportation field is included. Both DC and AC circuits as well as analogue and digital amplitudes is integral to the understanding of how electrical/electronic systems function in everyday use relating to the transportation design and repair field. Study of batteries used for Medium and Heavy Duty Trucks. Explanation of system and function control mechanisms will be explored in detail to provide a firm foundation for continuation of learning in Electronics and Fuel Systems
